Never been a big fan of westerns, but seem to remember Soldier Blue being pretty brutal back in the day. Haven’t seen it in years, but no doubt tame as fuck now.

Does hateful eight count as a western? Love that film. Its not considered one of tarantino's better films, but I like it.

The Alamo (the John Wayne one, not the abortion of a remake).
Last of the Mohicans counts as it has Indians in it, if no cowboys.
Shalako - if only for its unusual casting : Sean Connery, Bridgit Bardot, and Eric Sykes.

Yeah bit different that Glenn.... but very watchable...
Couple of the old classics was Soldier Blue and Little Big man with Dustin Hoffman...
What about Last of the Mohicans with DD Lewis in it?? Class as one?? Loved that film... great score as well...

Unforgiven for me.
I watched The Ballad of Buster Scruggs the other day. Worth a watch for any fans of the Coen brothers.

I’ve always liked the Ennio Morricone score westerns (have you noticed the recent Dulce and Gabbana advert with ‘Ecstacy of gold’ theme?)
I’ve also liked Pale Rider, Outlaw Josie Wales and so on.
